| Dungeon Siege Gets A Trailer | Dec 14, 2007 |
The official site for Uwe Boll's film adaptation of hack and slash game Dungeon Siege features a truly epic trailer for the flick, which should be fresh on the minds of anyone who saw the poster that made star Leelee Sobieski all frowny. Fortunately, the trailer for the movie, dubbed In The Name Of The King, is nothing but smiles. It features Ray Liotta as a king who can turn a regular library into a deadly book tornado and a team of forest ninja who will fight trolls or whatever. Also featured? Armies. Vast armies of phoned in performances. Boll may not win any awards for his Hollywood translation of the PC game, but Jason Statham deserves some sort of official recognition for his ability to deliver the line "Tomorrow, we gouge evil from its shell!" with a straight face. |
| URGED NOT TO LEARN TO ACT | Dec 12, 2007 |
JASON STATHAM became a Hollywood star despite never undergoing formal acting training, because GUY RITCHIE told him he didn't need any. Statham was plucked from obscurity to star in 1998 London gangster film Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels after Ritchie spotted him working on a market stall. The experience inspired him to become a full-time actor and he sought out the advice of his mentor. Statham says, "After Lock Stock, I told Guy I was so grateful for the experience, and I want to do another film. Should I go to drama school, and try and learn a few more tricks of the trade? "He said, 'F**k it. There's a fine line between intuition and technique, and at the moment, your intuition will be more interesting than your technique. So if you're asking me, don't do.'" |
| Retiring | Dec 11, 2007 |
JASON STATHAM has hit out at ageing movie rival SYLVESTER STALLONE - insisting audiences don't want to watch a 60-year-old man in an action film. The British star of The Transporter, who recently finished shooting a remake of Stallone's 1975 film Death Race 2000, promises to retire from the genre before movie fans get bored of him. Statham says, "The body starts to run out. I just did this remake of Death Race 2000 and I trained for that. I got in the best shape of my life. I was at my physical peak. "So I feel if I'm that good now, with the way I feel, there's no reason why you shouldn't be when you're 50. Jackie Chan's still doing tons of stuff. As long as you don't wreck yourself beyond repair. "But I don't want to be a 60-year-old action guy. There is a point where the audience just doesn't want to see you." |
| Jason's Diving Talent | Dec 11, 2007 |
Movie tough guy JASON STATHAM is hiding a sporty secret - he was once one of the world's top high divers. The actor fell for the water sport during a vacation to Florida - and mastered it so quickly, he made the British Olympic team within a year. Statham explains, "As a kid I went to Miami Beach with my mum and dad. And this guy did a high dive at noon every day. I thought, 'I'd love to be able to do that.' "I was one of those kids who used to climb trees, do whatever. So I joined up with the Highgate Diving Club (in London), and within a year I was on the British team. "My events were the three metre springboard and the 10 metre platform. I was 12th in the world on the springboard." |

| Quits Drinking for Death Race | Dec 09, 2007 |
British movie tough guy JASON STATHAM gave up drinking while shooting the DEATH RACE 2000 remake in Canada - because he wanted to be at his very best on set. Ever the professional, The Transporter star was tee-total for four months. He says, "The whole time I was up there I never had one beer. It was four months. "I was training every day. You know you do the best you can do. If I'm no good in the movie, that's my fault. It's not because it was eight tequila shots and a bunch of people I shouldn't have been with." |
