| Jason Statham Booted out of Playboy Mansion | Aug 14, 2008 |
|
August 12, 2008, Jason Statham got booted out from the Playboy Mansion over the weekend. Jason showed up to Hugh Hefner's annual Midsummer Night's Dream Party at the Playboy Mansion dressed in a bathrobe, but when he refused to pose for pictures, a spy said, "he was escorted by five security guards off the property. It was rough, but hey, gotta at least applaud him for not letting the hype and madness involved with the Hefner parties get the best of him. The man obviously has morals, not to mention a chance to avoid any other untrue rumors about him floating around. We could just imagine the headlines, “Jason Statham had sex with multiple playboy bunnies in Hugh Hefner’s pool.” LOL, give the man a break for having a little class, and thinking with his main head, and not the one that can get him in trouble.

| Transporter III 2009 | Jul 30, 2008 |
|
Jason Statham is back as the “Transporter,” and let’s just hope the third one’s the charm. With his last movies “In the Name of the King, A dungeon Siege Tale, and Crank” bombing big time, I hope he can bring back the chemistry and excitement he accomplished in his first films. The “Transporter” movies have always been action packed, fun, and thrilling and as long as new director Olivier Megaton keeps that in mind, than the third installment should make some decent change at the box office. This time around, franchise star Jason Statham is joined by Prison Break nasty guy Robert Knepper, no doubt once again playing the heavy, as really, with that face, and distinctive attitude what else could Knepper play? The man was born for villain roles; and at least now he gets to play the lead, which in itself shall be a special treat. Also joining him in this film is his co-star of the first two films, Francois Berleand. The sequel, will be produced by EuropaCorp principal Luc Besson and Steve Chasman, and will be filmed in France and Russia for 16 weeks; release date still to be determined as different dates are still being tossed about, and I have yet to confirm it. I was able to watch a short clip of this movie and must say Statham is looking hotter than ever. This film is still in production but all those die hard action fans can be certain it will be amazing to see Statham show off what he does best, which is Martial Arts and Kickboxing.

| Death Race August 22, 2008 | Jul 29, 2008 |
|
The Transporter star Jason Statham takes the wheel in director Paul W.S. Anderson's remake of the Roger Corman classic about a hyper-violent cross-country race that breaks all of the traditional rules of the road. The time is the not-so-distant future, and as America's prisons begin overflowing with violent criminals, the powers that be devise a grisly game that will free up space in the cells on and entertain the masses at the same time. Jensen Ames (Statham) is a three-time speedway champion with a dark past. A survival expert and ex-con whose sordid history comes back to haunt him when he is framed for a murder he didn't commit, Ames is forced to choose between donning the metallic mask of a mythical racer known as Frankenstein or languishing away on Terminal Island -- America's most notorious penitentiary. Over the course of the next three days, this unlikely champion will get behind the wheel of a nightmare machine outfitted with machine guns, grenade launchers, and flamethrowers in a desperate attempt to outrun some of the most violent criminals ever imprisoned. Should Ames be the first to cross the checkered flag, he will win his freedom; should he come in second, however, death would be preferable to a grim future in a cramped concrete cell. Co-stars include Joan Allen, Ian McShane, Natalie Martinez, and Tyrese Gibson, who takes over the role of Machine Gun Joe, made famous by Sylvester Stallone in the original. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide mtv.com |

| Fan Review - The Bank Job | Mar 04, 2008 |
|
The Bank Job tells the story of a group of friends who take the opportunity to rob the vaults of a bank in London. Terry (Statham) is approached by an old friend (Burrows) who claims to know someone in security who has told her that due to a problem with the trains setting the alarms on they wont be on for awhile. He soon persuades his friends to join in with the robbery. What they don’t know though is that Martine’s friends does not work in security. He actually works for the Government and he wants them to retrieve damning photos of a member of the Royal family from Michael X, a troublesome Jamaican revolutionary. The robbery goes ahead but not without its problems but they manage to get away. However, things soon turn nasty when it emerges that a Soho porn king/gangster also has incriminating evidence in the vault and things turn violent as he tries to get it back. The Good - The script is based on a true story with always makes interesting viewing. It briefly made headlines and then quickly disappeared due to a Government D notice, gagging the press for 30 years. This gives the film an air of mystery about it as we know we are watching things that the Government and police would prefer us not know about and a bit of scandal concerning the Royal family is always a winner and this (apart from Statham) is what I think will mainly appeal to the American audience who always seem interested in things to do with our Monarchy. The characters are fun and well liked. Statham is in a role he seems very comfortable with. It is rather similar to his parts in Lock Stock and Snatch with have a down to earth realism about them. There are also some heart warming scenes between him and his little girls including one where he is dancing with one at a friend’s wedding However we also get to see him in action near the end of the film and although is character is very likeable he still has that manly quality that makes him appealing to both male and female audiences. The other characters are also good. I’ve read reviews that say Saffron Burrows is wooden but I felt she played her part well and is well cast as a former model who gets caught up in a scandal. The film has a fun retro feel taking us back to 1970s London and its T-Rex theme tune will instantly catch you. There are some pretty tense moments mixed in with some pretty good one liners that make the film what it is. It isn’t overly violent or over the top nor is it a comedy but what we do get is well balanced. The Bad - As much as we love to see Statham’s fight scenes the one is this seemed a little silly as he was fighting someone a lot bigger than him and it as if it was written into the film just because of who he is. There will be those on the other hand who don’t really care who he was fighting, again because of who he is. There was sex scene between Statham and Burrows cut from the film. This wouldn’t have been a problem if it hadn’t been for a scene later on in the film when them having sex is referred to and the audience is meant to assume that it happened after a kiss which we do see. My View - All in all The Bank job is an enjoyable film which works well on many levels. It is pretty much a mans film but isn’t violent enough to put off women who will be attracted to the story and the scandal as it is based on a true story. - Donna Marie Cox |
| A real-life bank job | Mar 04, 2008 |
JASON STATHAM was visited on the set of THE BANK JOB, by one of the perpetrators of the real-life heist the movie was based on. The Brit plays the member of a gang who robbed a central London bank in 1971. None of the thieves were ever arrested and the stolen money was never recovered. The British Government also banned the media from reporting on the case - prompting conspiracy theorists to speculate the authorities were hiding something. But Statham's research into the role was made easier, thanks to a mysterious on-set visit. The actor reveals, "We were very lucky. One of the chaps came to the set. We tried to keep his identity undercover. He didn't want to glamorise himself. A lot of people thought he was my dad coming for a set visit. Remarkably he looked a lot like me. "He told us some great stories about the day." |
